Movie Review for Forrest Gump

When I first saw Forrest Gump the thing that impressed me the most about this film was the fact that the the acting was so convincing that the audience was actually emotionally swayed by the end of the film. That is a rare thing in the movie business this day, to acquire actors who can fully get in character and carry out a convincing script, one which fully hooks the audience as they watch the film.

  2. Furthermore, I thought it was both ingenious how Forrest inadvertently made history happen and I found the placement of Forrest in historical clips both conceptually and technichly interesting this film is truly one for the ages and I know I'll be showing it to my children

  3. Phenomenal acting and an engaging story once again create a masterpiece in the film industry. Tom Hanks takes us on a journey through the eyes of Forest Gump, who, though not intelligent, has been present at many historic events and has quite a few insightful things to say about life. We explore who he was and is, learning of things he did, does, and loves. The primary focus of the movie sets Forest sitting on a bench while waiting for a bus to arrive. During this time, people come and go while he tells them about his experience through life.
The special effects and recreations were fulfilling and did not take away from the story. Instead, they reflected the time period he was in as well as giving a believable sense that he was actually there. The ways they recreated certain old videos are intriguing and I hope to one day be able to incorporate special effects into my own projects as well as they did in this film, subtle yet prominent; real yet fake. We know that Tom Hanks was not actually in the video footage with Ronald Reagan, but it isn’t too far out the way they stuck him in there. It was believable as well as entertaining.
This movie was a little long, but the length conveyed the fullness of Forest’s life and captured the ability of Hanks’ performance. Movie watching is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get. Film is an industry that relies on several parts of the whole, and without those parts, the whole would never be the same. In this case it was a masterpiece, each part flowing exceptionally to bring about an intriguing and timeless classic.

  4. I agree with you Andy and I also find it very impressive that they could keep the Audiences attention for such a long time. I kno I have sat through some movies that just seemed like they were never going to end and it was awful but with Forest Gump you dont really realize how long it is. I also loved how they changed locations so much it kept it super interesting. My favorite location was definitely over in Vietnam. This classic movie was a massive story and I cant even imagine what it took to shoot it. I would definitely recommend it to others.
